Which she never minded, because she loved to show off her body. She worked hard for it, she deserved that. Low slung sweat pants, fishnet tights pulled up so her naval piercing popped through. Summer was definitely her favorite season. She could lean herself against her brothers car, body on display. Smoking a cigarette 'cause not all her addictions could be kicked at once. She was supposed to be meeting up with Balto. But technically she was outside the gym that she worked at. And technically Balto couldn't miss her if he came up. Unless he was blind, really, there weren't a lot of hot chicks lounging around. Not with skin showing within an inch of their life. This was technically a first date, but Reese wasn't going to stand on ceremony. That was hardly her style. Besides, they'd fucked around enough. She spotted Balto coming up to the gym, tilting her sunglasses down. "Heya, baby," Reese cooed, pushing herself off the car. The sun glinted off her sunglasses. She could eye up Balto easily, smirk playing over her lips. Reese had to lean up to press a kiss to his lips - standard greeting to be honest - but she didn't mind. She always liked her men taller than her. "You ready to get your ass beat?" she asked, feigning some kind of innocence, still pressed against Balto's chest. @balto c. valenti

rule number one
Coming back to Chicago had brought a lot of people from his past back into his life. In a lot of ways it was great. He’d missed the familiarity. The shitty little town in Ohio had become familiar, too. But they weren’t his people. His people were here, in the windy city, all still trying to figure their shit out just the same as him. Though most of them were better off than Balto. When he’d reconnected with Reese, he hadn’t expected it to go anywhere. He certainly hadn’t expected the casual sex to turn into a potential girlfriend situation. He hadn’t really been in the market for that sort of thing. But with Reese it had come pretty naturally. Even if things weren’t exactly conventional.

They’d quite literally decided to fight for their first date. Maybe that said something about the kind of people they were. The kind of couple they would be if this actually went anywhere. But Balto kind of liked it. It was unconventional. It was… Well, exactly what he needed in his life right now. Easy, intuitive, fun. And with someone who knew what they were getting into with him from the very start. All the baggage and the shitty work hours and the baby. Blue won hearts easily, but most women his age that didn’t have kids weren’t really ready to commit to that life. Reese wasn’t necessarily the motherly, nurturing type, either. But she was good with Blue. More importantly, she didn’t complain when Balto had to be mister mom while she was around.

Balto pushed his own sunglasses up onto the top of his head, grinning as she hopped off the hood of the car. She looked good today. She always did. ”Hey, sexy lady.” He made sure to stoop a little when she went in for the kiss, draping his arms casually over her shoulders. He was used to it by now, most women were shorter than him.

She asked the question with an air of innocence, but Balto knew better. Reese had always been tough as nails. And even with his enhanced agility, he was no match for her crazy ability to fight. He knew heading into this that it was a fight he could not win. But winning wasn’t the point, really. ”Go easy on me, I’m out of practice.” It wasn’t one hundred percent true. Balto worked out daily (his abs were very important to him), it just happened more often in the middle of his living room floor while watching Sesame Street with an infant now, than in an actual gym.

She had never liked children - had never wanted one. And whether or not Blue was a defining factor in the relationship had yet to be decided for her. They had only just started officially dating. Everything else had just been fooling around. Reese liked Blue enough to know she wasn't just jerking Balto around. She liked him enough not to be that bitch. Reese didn't mind dates including the baby or the fact that Balto had to look after her. In fact, she admired the responsibility.  The Balto she had known when they were younger - Reese could never see doing anything like this. They had both changed so fucking much. For the better (for the most part). A younger Reese would laugh at the idea of dating a guy with a kid. But now well....it wasn't so impossible.Especially since he was so fucking hot. Reese wouldn't lie, physical attraction played a big part in her feelings. It always had for her, and she wasn't shallow. She'd seen guys just for their looks before, they usually turned out to be assholes. Not that Balto wasn't. Just a different kind. "Out of practice?!" she asked jovialy, a wicked grin teasing her mouth. "Well that's the point of this, Balto baby. To get you in practice. C'mon tough guy," she teased, ducking out from under his arms but keeping her arm around his waist to lead him to the gym. Balto was probably one of the few people Reese knew that was actually a challenge for her to fight. His power gave him an advantage, and Reese honestly fucking loved it. As much as she enjoyed teaching, it got a bit boring at the end of the day, always ending up gently leading her opponents shoulders down to the mat. "So I'll let you choose, since I have home field advantage. Do you wanna play by regulation rules, or anything goes?" she asked as she pushed the door open for the both of them. Reese would still best his ass wither way, but maybe she'd let him win once, so his ego wasn't too bruised.@balto c. valenti

rule number one
He raised his eyebrows at her expression. ”I don’t like the look of that grin.” Except that he did. A lot. Reese was fucking hot, but there was something about her smile that was just… really nice. Balto liked it when she laughed. Even if it was at his expense. In some moments it felt like they were stupid teenagers ago. This was all just fun and games. No cares, no worries. They weren’t those kids anymore, though. In some ways they were much better. But sometimes he still longed for the days when he could throw caution to the fucking wind, and they could stay out all night being dumb and young and have a good time. Instead he had to make sure he picked up a kid from daycare at 4 P.M. and got to bed at a reasonable time to get to work early the next morning.

”I thought the point was to kick my ass?” Granted he could put up a fight. Balto’s own powers game him a slight advantage compared to other people. But he knew he was still no match for Reese and her crazy abilities. She would take him down every single time. If she didn’t win, she was throwing the fight. It was kind of hot, though. He dug the idea of his girlfriend being a badass.

Balto made his way through the door, turning to hold it open for her after he was inside. He could be gentleman sometimes. When he wanted to be. ”I said I’m out of practice, not a lameass.” he grinned. He was never one to back down from a challenge. Certainly not one that promised to be this fun. Balto pulled the contents of his pockets out (his cellphone, his wallet, a half-crushed box of Marlboros), and dropped them on a bench along with his sunglasses. ”Rules are for little bitches who can’t take the heat.” Nevermind that according to her, he probably was a little bitch.
